Our scope was to design and construct a 7500m2 multi-purpose transport facility with 2000m2 of cold storage warehousing.
This included:

  • Loading docks
  • Rapid rise doors
  • Workshop
  • Wash bay
  • Fuel station
  • Weighbridge
  • Modern office inclusions
  • Dry store warehouse racking
  •  External hardstand area to park 35 B’double trucks and staff parking for 40 vehicles

The 27,500m2 Industrial site had substantial fall, which required extensive retaining walls up to 3m high to create a level platform and also support the southern wall of the warehouse. The 50m internal clear span warehouse was also engineered to suspend the insulated cool room ceiling panels and eliminate the requirement for internal columns which create unnecessary obstructions for the forklift operators.

The refrigerated freezer and chiller plant is powered by a 1000 Amp substation and have been designed with a fan forced subfloor ventilation system combined with 150mm insulated foam between slabs to eliminate the risk of freezing.

All the recessed docks have all 12.5T load rating and hydraulically operated with insulated automatic sensored upright sectional doors and directional lighting to comply with OHS & E safety regulations.

The cold storage docks have inflatable seals to eliminate loss of temperature when the vans are being unloaded and to maintain optimum condition of the product.

The Workshop has a recessed cantilevered service pit for a B’double trucks which have all the inclusions of a premium grade workshop to create a working environment that is enjoyable and comfortable, these include all the oils required for servicing trucks, compressed air, and 10T pit jacks.

The wash bay has high-pressure hot water wash and rinse to ensure the fleet of trucks are kept clean at all times. We have installed a series of tanks for recycling the water with gas boosted hot water heaters, and stainless steel track system for ease of operating the wands when washing with epoxy coated walls and floors.

The on-site fuel station has two underground 100,000L diesel tanks and one 10,000L Adblu tank feeding four bowsers. The 8m cantilevered canopy over each side ensures two trucks can refuel in wet conditions without compromise. The fuel hut houses security, surveillance, emergency requirements and remote monitoring at all times.

The office, admin, lunch room, amenities, and operations building has the attention to detail and quality of finishes similar to a hotel, which was part of the reason why Icon was engaged. The entire facility has automated access control and censored lighting with German LED energy saving fittings to ensure low operational cost.
